The store was created as a direct result of the experiences and frustrations which they encountered in buying wardrobe for Veronica that both looked good, and fit her T-Girl figure. They have experienced the problems with online shopping and proper fitment. A closet full of Size 22 tent dresses and boxes full of items bought online that just didn't fit, prompted them to look at things differently, and take an 'Out of the box approach" to fitment. Through trial and error, they found that the actual labeled size of an item doesn't have a great effect on fitment, due to the differences in the male and female figures, and "Size" can vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. They started looking at the measurements, style, and material of the piece, and found that Veronica could fit into a wide range of "Sizes", and the "fit" was vastly improved. They were already selling on Ebay, and decided to "test market" their new approach to fitment, designing ads with measurements and photos of Veronica actually wearing the items. The results were outstanding, so a new Ebay store, "Kat's Dream Boutique", was born. Understanding the T-Girl lifestyle, the store was set up to respect your feminine persona, and insure your privacy. The existing store had over 2000 sales with 100% positive feedback, so key success elements like Customer Satisfaction and Quick Shipping were incorporated in the new venture. All listings would include essential measurements and photos with T-Girl models when possible. Knowing the differences in tastes and looks desired in the various aspects of the T-Girl community, and understanding the need to keep prices reasonable, they decided to offer an ever changing inventory of unique items, hand selected from consignment stores, department store close-outs, and other cost-effective venues.
Kat's Dream Boutique officially opened in January of 2005, and continues to grow and adapt to the needs of it's customers.
