FITMENT......Dressing The T-Girl Figure
The easiest way to explain the problem in fitting women's clothing to the male anatomy, is by considering the male shape to be an inverted triangle....large at the top(chest) and narrow at the bottom(hips). If you ignore the obvious presence of breasts, a womans body is just the opposite.....a regular triangle.....small at the top(chest) and larger at the bottom(hips). When a woman tries a dress on, the problem area will be in the hips. When a T-girl tries a dress on, the problem area will be in the chest. By adding breast forms to a male body, you are only accentuating the difference, by making your chest even bigger, and the end result is usually a dress that fits in the chest, but looks like a tent in the waist and hip areas. In addition, a man's waist is usually set lower on his torso than a woman's, which once again, tends to make the fitment problem even worse. Other contributing factors are, a man's larger hands and head, causing problems with collar and cuff size, and his wider and often muscular shoulders and arms, which tighten up the top of the garment even more. It's no wonder that finding things that both fit and look good is a major problem for T-Girls.
Garment manufactures do not help a bit, as their ideas of "Sizing" vary greatly between brands, and this is a big problem for genetic girls as well. Any standards that may have existed for industry sizing have gone out the window long ago.
So, with so many obstacles to overcome, how can we achieve that ultra-feminine look that we crave? We don't have all of the answers, but most of the solutions fall under two categories.....Measurement & Sizing and Style.
