MAKE UP REMOVERS ......
Makeup removers now come in a variety of forms, from creams to disposable towelettes. I suggest using a good creamy makeup remover all over the face as a first step...good old Fashioned Cold Cream or Abolene Cream (if you can still find it) works very well, and since you are using so much, is very inexpensive. Slather it all over your face, paying special attention to eyes and lip line. Wash and rinse your face thoroughly. Go over the eye area with a liquid remover (I love Rimmel liquid, It gets all the residue!!!), and rinse again. Dont forget to moisturize after washing!! Makeup towelettes are great for packing in your purse to take care of small accidents, and to freshen up raccoon eyes or botched lipstick, but I do not suggest trying to use them as a primary remover.
A WORD ABOUT ALL COSMETICS ......
Cosmetics will not live in your makeup bag indefinitely. They must be replaced approx every six months. Once opened and exposed to air, they can become rancid and even dangerous. Mascaras and liquid liners collect bacteria, and old mascara can cause eye infections etc. Products like shadow and blush have a longer life expectancy, but all liquid products should be checked regularly. It is also a good rule of thumb to clean your makeup brushes at least once every two weeks if you use them often. They collect oil and bacteria from the skin, and hold on to old makeup in the fibers and bristles, and eventually will distort the fresh color you are trying to apply.
